Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS)
SPPS is a method used for the laboratory synthesis of peptides in which the growing peptide chain is attached to an insoluble solid support, usually a polymer resin. Amino acids are added stepwise to the chain through repeated cycles of deprotection and coupling reactions, commonly using Fmoc or Boc protecting groups. After completion of the sequence, the peptide is cleaved from the resin and purified. SPPS simplifies peptide synthesis by allowing excess reagents and by-products to be removed easily through washing, eliminating the need for purification after each step. It provides high yields, better control over peptide sequence, and reduced reaction time. The method is easily automated and is widely used in research, pharmaceutical development, and biotechnology for the synthesis of biologically active peptides.

Adsorption studies
Adsorption studies involve the investigation of the accumulation of molecules of a substance, known as the adsorbate, on the surface of a solid material called the adsorbent. This surface phenomenon differs from absorption, as adsorption occurs only at the surface of the solid. Solid adsorbents such as activated charcoal, silica gel, alumina, and zeolites possess large surface areas, making them highly effective for adsorbing gases or solutes from liquids. Adsorption plays a significant role in various chemical, biological, and environmental processes. The extent of adsorption depends on factors such as the nature of the adsorbent and adsorbate, surface area, temperature, concentration, and contact time. Adsorption studies help in understanding surface interactions and are commonly used to evaluate adsorption isotherms such as Freundlich and Langmuir models.
