Re-accredited by NAAC with "B++" Grade



 The first degree course introduced in the college was BSc. Botany which commenced in 1977. At present the department offers a core degree programme, complementary courses to zoology and biochemistry and a multidisciplinary open course in mushroom cultivation and marketing. The department runs a botanical garden which is a forest-like region including rare plants. The department has advanced research facilities including mammalian cell culture lab and molecular biology lab developed utilizing DST-SERB project fund. The faculty members of the department are approved guides for guiding research leading to PhD in Botany and Biotechnology with specialization in Phytopharmaceuticals, Actinomycete and Crop improvement and production. Right from the inception the department has succeeded in producing academic results which are consistently good.
