The college conducts a number of extension activities every year, which provides an arena in which thecollege joins hands with the neighborhood community, reviews their concerns, and does the best to ensure community welfare. The N.S.S. and N.C.C. units of the college are at the forefront in encouraging the students to various social issues and to ensure their participation in welfare activities. In addition to the NSS, NCC and various other clubs a Community Services Cell (CSC) was constituted to co-ordinate extension activities and to ensure the participation of all stakeholders in community services. The NSS, NCC and CSC undertaking activities like awareness creation among the people of the adopted village, conducting cleaning activities within the college and in the adopted village (a ward in Kottankara Grama Panchayath, Karicode division,Kollam), helping the community and society by offering free labour, donating blood to the poor and needy patients. Started a rescue center at Karicode, adopted a govt. primary school at Perumon, cleaned historic Pandarakulam Pond and Peroor-Perumkulam Canal. Started tailoring Training unit for the inmates of Mahila Mandiram (Rehabilitation Centre for Women).The major programmes conducted by NSS as part of Sramadhan were Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan- a five-day cleanliness drive, Voice Donation- creating audio books for visually impaired, visiting Adopted Family for cleaning and clothes distribution. Organized an awareness programme on Early Detection of Oral Cancer,awareness programmes on AIDS, Gender Neutrality, Blind Federation programmes, Hepititis-BVaccination (3 stages), Sahapadikkoru Veedu (A House for the Fellow-being), Gandhi Bhavan visit for clothes and fund donation, adoption of a deprived family at Keralapuram, old-age home visit and donationof fund and food, one-day visit to Buds on Wings School for Differently abled Students. The NCC units of the college, 3 (K) Bn. NCC SW and 9 (K) Bn. are involved actively in community welfare activities. As part of eco-conservation drive, the cadets planted trees in the premises of the Karicode Railway Station. They participated in cleanliness drives including Swatch Bharat Mission, conducted awareness programmes, participated in blood donation and organized blood donation camp, conducted eye-detection camp and free surgery for cataract patients, organized a special programme SPARSH, for assisting, rehabilitating and strengthening the handicapped, a caring touch for the disabled old and destitute persons. The college organizes social, environmental, educational, entrepreneurial and medical aid programs that involve the state and central government’s policies for the upliftment of the marginalized sections. The staff and students of the college contributed Rs. 56/- lakh to CMDRF during the Kerala Flood, and involved directly in rescue operations. Students under various clubs, collected food items, cloths,medicines, and study materials to be distributed among the flood victims in Adoor, Pandalam and Kuttanad.The college and the teachers have bagged prestigious awards for social work. The NSS unit of the college bagged five awards like NYLP Award 2016-17, Suchithwa Mission Award, District Best Performance Award 2016-17, Best NSS programme officer Award 2015-16 and Best Performance Award for Oral Cancer Detection camp.
