International Industry Academia Conclave on opportunities in US Taxation

In continuation of the visit of the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala to the US in June 2023, during which he engaged with leaders of industry in the fields of finance and taxation, TKM Group of Institutions and Additional Skill Acquisition Programme, Kerala (ASAP, Kerala), a Government of Kerala Company under the Department of Higher Education, are jointly organizing an International Industry-Academia Conclave on opportunities in US Taxation. The Conclave is scheduled to be held on 17th February 2024.

The inaugural session, along with a panel discussion, will take place at TKM College of Engineering at 11:00 am. Subsequently, an orientation session along with the Valedictory function will be held in the afternoon at TKM College of Arts and Science at 2:30 pm.  An orientation on professional certifications such as Enrolled Agent and CPA will be conducted for M.Com students from various colleges and alumni of our college in the afternoon. TKM Colleges of Arts & Science entered into an MOU with ASAP in March 2023 for the conduct of enrolled agent course for our B Com, M Com and Commerce alumni. We are the first college in Kerala University to establish such an MOU. Successfully with in a year, six students from our first EA batch have been placed in different international companies. In light of this, we plan to honor these students during the afternoon function as an inspiration to the upcoming batch.

The Honourable Finance Minister, Sri K.N. Balagopal, will inaugurate the Conclave as the Chief Guest. Ms. Elizabeth Kolar, Executive Vice President, and Mr. Sean Mullen, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships at Surgent, USA, will be the Guests of Honor at this International Conclave. They are partners with US Universities and Industries in the development of resource materials for finance and accounting programs and serve as the Training Partner for ASAP Kerala’s EA and CPA programs.

Representatives from top US accounting firms such as H&R Block, KPMG, Ernst & Young, GR8 Affinity, Nexdigm, and GT, who have hired students from Kerala colleges into US taxation job roles, as well as candidates undergoing the ASAP Enrolled Agent course, faculty, and students from higher education institutions, especially from the Commerce Departments, will also be attending the Conclave. This program will be chaired by Dr. Usha Titus IAS (Retd), Chairperson & Managing Director, ASAP Kerala.
